Rack Up, an Up & Adam Studios app
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 8, 2026
This policy explains how Rack Up handles your information. Rack Up is a scorekeeper for tile-based word games, published by Up & Adam, LLC operating as Up & Adam Studios, based in Columbus, Ohio. It has its own policy rather than only our general app policy because one optional feature can reach the internet, and we would rather spell that out than leave it to a blanket statement.
The short version. Rack Up collects nothing about you. There is no account, no sign-up, no ads, and no analytics. Your games are stored on your phone. Out of the box the app never contacts the internet at all. If you switch definitions on, the app sends the word you played, and nothing else, to a public dictionary service.
What the app stores
Everything Rack Up keeps is stored on your device: the player names you type, the words and scores of the game in progress, your finished game, your settings, and any definitions it has already looked up. None of it is sent to us. We do not receive a copy and we could not read it if we wanted to. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
The word check is fully offline
The word list is built into the app. Checking a word never leaves your phone and works with no signal at all. The list is ENABLE, a public-domain word list, plus the modern two-letter words it predates. It is not an official tournament dictionary.
Definitions, which are off by default
Definitions are the only part of Rack Up that uses the internet, and they ship turned off. If you turn them on in the menu, then each time a word is scored the app asks a free public dictionary service (dictionaryapi.dev) what that word means.
- The request contains the word itself and nothing else. No name, no device identifier, no game, no account.
- As with any internet request, that service can see the network address it came from. We have no control over and no visibility into what it does with that.
- Answers are cached on your phone, so a word already looked up is not requested again.
- Turning definitions back off stops all of it immediately. The rest of the app is unaffected.
No accounts, no ads, no tracking
Rack Up has no login. It contains no advertising software and no analytics software of any kind. We do not use advertising pixels, crash reporters, or third-party trackers. There is nothing to opt out of, because there is nothing running.
Permissions
The app requests two Android permissions: internet, used only for the optional definitions described above, and vibration, for the small taps you feel when marking tiles. It asks for nothing else, and it has no access to your contacts, files, location, camera, or microphone.
Your choices and rights
Because your information lives on your device, you are in control. You can start a new game, delete any turn, or remove everything by deleting the app. If you have a privacy question or request, email adam@upandadamco.com and we will respond within 30 days.
EU and UK residents. Where data-protection law applies to you, the app processes the information above on your device on the basis of your consent, given when you enter it. Because nothing is transmitted to us, our processing is minimal. You have the right to access, correct, and delete your information, all of which you can do on your device.
California, Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut residents. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. There is no data for us to disclose or delete on your behalf, because we never receive any.
Children
Rack Up is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. It shows no ads and makes no in-app purchases.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top. If a change is material, such as any new feature that sends information off your device, we will make that clear before it takes effect.
